Elias Mensah

Defense attorney

I'm a criminal defense lawyer, and only that. Most of my clients have never been arrested before.

I grew up on the Boise Bench, the son of a nurse and a bus driver. Before law school I worked as an investigator for a public defender's office, knocking on doors and reading police reports late into the night. That's where I learned that the person in the file is almost never the person the file describes.

I opened this office so I could take fewer cases and know each one well. I answer my own phone. I meet you in person, at the office or somewhere you're comfortable. And I tell you the truth about your case, including the parts that are hard to hear.

How I work

Slow enough to get it right

You'll have my cell number. You'll get a copy of everything the prosecutor sends me, with a note on what it means. Before every court date we talk through what will happen, who will speak and what you should wear. If the plan changes, you hear it from me first.

I'm in the Ada County courthouse most weeks and in Canyon County often. I'll meet you in Meridian, Nampa or Garden City if that's easier than driving downtown.
